We love stories where two people who should never end up together somehow do. A beast and beauty. A human and a vampire. It shows up again and again in movies and books. Different backgrounds. Different worlds. No logical reason they should connect, yet somehow they do. 

The book of Ruth gives us a story like that. Two very unlikely people are brought together. A respected Israelite man and a foreign widow from Moab. And once the story gets moving, you quickly realize this is no ordinary story. Through God’s quiet work behind the scenes, their lives become part of something far bigger than they could have imagined.

As we walk verse by verse through Ruth, we will see how God takes what looks small and ordinary and uses it for something far greater. This story ultimately points us beyond Ruth and Boaz to God’s plan of redemption, a plan that leads all the way to Jesus. Long before anyone could see it, God was at work, weaving together a story that would bring a Redeemer for the world.
